When Should My Child Have an Educational Assessment?

A child educational or learning assessment may be helpful if your child:

Child Assessment Process

1. Parent Consultation 
Developmental, educational, and mental health history – may be obtained by questionnaires, or phone call

2. Cognitive Assessment (WISC-V)
90–120 minutes (in person).

3. Academic Assessment (WIAT-III)
90–120 minutes (in person).

4. Review of School & Medical Reports 

5. Comprehensive Written Report
Includes cognitive profile, academic profile, diagnosis (if applicable), and tailored recommendations.

6. Feedback Session (30 minutes)
Telehealth or phone review of findings and next steps.

Adult Assessment Process

  1. Initial consultation – may be done through phone call/telehealth or questionnaires

  2. Cognitive and academic testing (1–2 sessions, in person ranging from 60-90 minute per session)

  3. Review of records (if available)

  4. Comprehensive written report

  5. Feedback session

Who May Not Be Suitable for an Educational Assessment

An assessment may not be appropriate if the individual is:

  • Experiencing acute mental health symptoms (e.g., psychosis or severe distress)

  • Chronically using alcohol or illicit substances

If this applies, we can guide you toward appropriate supports first.

Educational Assessment Fees (Children & Adults)

Total Package Fee: $1,800 (including GST)

Payment structure:

  • $900 before the initial consultation

  • $900 before testing

  • Full payment required prior to assessment sessions

Payment options include bank transfer or credit card (2.9% + $0.30 processing fee applies).
